the bottle

Well I finally got a new water bottle I'd been wanting. A real SIGG ultralight Aluminum bottle from Switzerland. Since I work for a company that makes clean water, a lot of folks have fancy water bottles on their desk or pitchers, etc. Since I'm walking around a lot and taking the train, etc... I want to have a water bottle with me, but you know, something with some style, that won't explode in my purse. I waited for a very long time for it to arrive and was very excited. I'm realizing from looking at this photo, though, that I've got a little too many foreign things sitting on my desk. There is my Eiffel Tower from my trip to Paris, the “secretary” my folks brought back from Mexico and the Italian Lire, Marco paid me for telling him what I had during a hand of poker. At least the message holder thingee is made in the USA, since I made it myself.

As everyone knows, including my Aunt Earleen, who apparently reads my blog, and so probably knows more about what is going on in my life than my parents- I’ve been busy lately. The past three weeks, I’ve worked over 75 hours of overtime. Now, the nice thing is I get paid for overtime hours (a first for me). The not so nice thing is, I don’t really care about the extra money, I’d rather have more free time. Well, this week, I’m bringing in a contract worker to handle some of the overload, so that will help, and I’m actually leaving at 5PM on two separate days this week and not working over the weekend- zounds. We leave Friday for Jacksonville, Oregon for a conference on Interactive Storytelling… well I call it a “conference” but I think the organizer would prefer to call it a “phrontisterion” which indicates more of an ongoing discussion. Either way it should be fun and I’m looking forward to spending ten hours in a car alone with Jonathan to catch up and talk and sing together, etc. The other night I’m leaving early is tonight. We’ve got tickets to the Lion King I bought back in November for Jonathan’s birthday. They are VIP tickets in the very front row, right in the middle. Before the show, we’re going to the Fifth Floor Restaurant- note the décor- all part of a theme! I am very excited to say the least. I wonder if they’ll let me bring my bottle with me?

CoC

Well Call of Cthulhu was really fun. We played "Uncle Timothy's Will" and had a large group, including more than half women, which is remarkable for an RPG. We met in Chris H's very cool house in Oakland- note original wood paneling behind Jade (from there.com) and Justin in the photo at left. No lights- all candles... very spooky. There was such a large group, two of us played NPCs, including myself which was tons of fun.  Justin, who I think is the guy who owns bud.com, which you might have heard of, was also an NPC- he played a butler who had been with the family for years, Jameson I think was his name, and I played Henrietta the French maid. Did I mention both Jameson and I were INSANE? Yes we were quite mad and kept passing notes back and forth to the GM telling him who we wanted to kill and when (usually "now" or "immediately") Oh, did I mention our entire role in the plot was to kill the other folks in the room, cut out their hearts and put them in a pot to cook so that some crazy lich could come back to life? Amazingly enough, nobody killed us first, which was sort of disappointing, because I wanted to come back as a zombie. The reviews are in:

"The NPC's were the stars of the show--too hilarious by far. Loved it"
"Really too creepy"

Creepy and hilarious- exactly how I want people to think of me... I wish I could be Henrietta the crazy French maid every day! She knows that Brie is also a cheese. It was really great to "work with" Justin since he knew just when to leer at me and complete the sentance "we take care of the house" with "and the people... in the house".

It was Eric's b-day, so Jen made him an extra special cake- pictured here. Awww.

Another reason to love google

Google Search: ounces in a liter

Like I needed one!

I wanted to find a conversion into ounces on the web, so I plugged in "ounces in a liter" into my google toolbar and instead of listing back all the sites that might have a conversion table, it just told me "1 liter = 33.8140226 US fluid ounces" (with the option to search for sites) very cool! Hot damn I love the google toolbar: the internet should all be like that. Next I want to plug in something like "10PM I am hungry in walnut creek, ca" and it should tell me what eateries are still open. (Fat chance of even google finding a place open in Walnut Creek that late- it would come back with "move to Oakland" with a link to real estate listings.)

I have a lot to talk about on my blog, including photos and reviews (!) from the Call of Cthulhu game, plus more drivel about my everyday life: how much money I am winning playing poker, ongoing musings about whether to cut my hair really short, etc. Will hav eto wait until I get caught up on other stuff: laundry, for example. I have not been online in a long time- worked over 25 hours of overtime both last week and the week before (great time to give up caffeine, eh?), so I am just coming back to normal hours now. So, more soon.

ps: Who loves momovelo? I mean, besides me.
