CoH is taking over

OK, here is how you know you are addicted to a game: Wednesday I worked 15 hours straight, then Thursday I worked 13 hours straight. What do you think I did Thursday night (well, after making the traditional meal for Autumnal Equinox: Nachos) played City of Heroes. If you would like to be as obsessed as I am, you can play the theme music from the game. They made this link available because they are having a machinema contest and want folks to use their licensed music to go with the films, so they will have the rights to publish them on their site. The "Texture" pieces are especially cool ambient loops: my favorites are Serpent's Teeth, Lake Everett (gotta love Perez Park), and the Dark Astoria one. The actual theme music, however, isn't anything special. I reported a bug with incoming text scrolling in a window. I have been able to reproduce it 100% of the time, even on other team member's machines. I wonder if they'll fix it. I also found a bomb-like object that when you click on it says "DoesntMatter". I've found this twice actually in the same area of Terra Volta. It even makes the glowy noise, which is kind of amusing. If I were going to do a machinema in COH, it would be about the glowies. Like you are cruising around "looking for clues" or "destroying drug caches" and the stangest things are glowy. Things you really don't want to touch, like Positron's ass, or totally impossible things to touch like the newspapers that blow around. Because really, sometimes the stupidest things glow, like the recycling bins or the white boards in conference rooms. Come on, are the Tsoo Sorcerers really sitting around a conference table, re-inking their tattoos and planning their next big operation on a white board? I can totally see Teal Death using phrases like "at the end of the day" and talking about finding "synergy" with other drug cartels.

Superheroes

Ioan Gruffudd will be Mr. Fantastic in an upcoming movie that also starts Dark Angel, Jessica Alba. The photos are hilarious- Mr. Fantastic kills me! The look on Ioan Gruffudd's face says, "I can't believe I'm doing this- I used to be Horatio Hornblower for pity's sake- now look at me."

Superheroes are so IN. We totally called this trend last year at Halloween and are now playing City of Heroes nonstop, then "The Incredibles" will come out, plus this. Soon wearing a cape will be fashionable- I AM TELLING YOU! (Spandex, however will not be in, as nobody looks good in spandex... but CAPES go with everything.) You should make your own cape now before people start wearing them to Mama's Royal Cafe and around the Mission to look alternative. (You know, instead of wearing skirts and pants at the same time, which now seem de rigueur.)

...and not a drop to drink

I have been trying all sorts of things in an effort to drink more water. The main line of business of the company I work for is to make clean water, so I figure I should, you know, do my part by drinking more of it.

Some of the tactics I have tried so far include buying a cool water bottle, so I always have some with me, and adding things to the water to make it less boring. I got tired of lemon long ago and tried other stuff, including combinations of different citrus, and slices of cucumber or apple. Those were very refreshing in a spa experience kind of way, but require planning and trips to the grocery store in order to enjoy at work. (Drinking fizzy and other sexy waters also helps, but with the same problem.) Plus, I walk to work, so the less I have to lug, the better.

Here is the latest thing that is working for me, and it can be assembled all from free crap found in typical office lounges. Fill bottle/cup with plain water until it is 75% or more full (add ice now, if you like). Then fill a mug with hot water and dunk an herbal tea bag into it- mint and lemon flavors work nice. Don't make tea; just dunk it in until the color changes a little. Then pour the weak tea into the water and you have a pleasant, lightly flavored beverage with no calories or caffeine. Play with strength of taste and proportions.

This has worked for me for two weeks without getting bored. If you are trying to drink more water, perhaps it will work for you too. When I am not drinking water, I play Pikmin2 and City of Heroes. I play a lot of Cities of Heroes actually. I am on Liberty server, if you are interested in hanging out or want to bust gang leaders, their crews.

the Man of My Dreams

I just got a virtually unsolicited e-mail from Jonathan asking, "When do you want to set aside for table shopping?"

Hands off girls, he's taken!

Pikmin 2 Commercial

Videos for US Pikmin 2 Commercial are on ign (you may have to click in the upper right hand corner to get past the ad). This is the commerical so cute, my Mom had to call me up when she saw it and was so excited describing it to me, had to repeat herself several times before I realized she was saying "hot dog hot dog". If you love Pikmin and/or midgets- this is the video for you.
