CoH image from real life
This will only be amusing if you play Cities of Heroes.

Hey, where did all the 5th Column go?

"What IS UP with THAT?"
Saw the documentary "Comedian" last night and I recommend it. The special DVD features are espeically good, the trailer kills me. For some reason Orny reminds me of George. Plus it is interesting to see how unhappy rich people really are- I mean they actually have to invent stupid things to do to keep from getting bored. Say what you want about those of us with jobs who live month to month- we are not bored. Add it to your netflix queue right now.

cooofffeeee
Oh I had to do it. You knew I'd go back to drinking coffee. I'm working 16-hour days again, so I really had to. But this morning... oooooh-weee. I went to Olivetto's by the Rockridge BART for a morning meeting. Their downstairs cafe is open from 7AM and is so delicious! I had the best cup of coffee I have had since Paris. It was amazing. If anyone is interetsed in 20-minute early-morning discussions (ok, I know that is nobody who reads this) where we meet at Olivetto's cafe at 7 or 7:30 then catch BART to work, please let me know. I would love to have a cup of coffee that good at least once a month.

What a Dump
Boy I can not post for like a whole month and then.. what? Leave you with two random quotations? That's a gyp. Sorry to use the same old excuse that I am busy, but... ok I won't say it. (Can I say the pile of work on my desk makes me want to cry?) I am fighting hard not to fall prey to that feeling, trying to focus on the larger picture. This is, after all, only a job and I'm not really saving lives or anything. My worst months at places I used to work are barely memorable while I recall vividly all the good times, so I have to have faith in the kooky way my brain works that eventually I'll actually recall my tenure here with daft fondness.
I actually started drawing a picture last week, which is out of the ordinary for me. This is a full fantasy portrait of what I'm thinking of now as the "Winter Queen". Perhaps I have been looking at too many Magic cards and video game concept art, but this is quite a departure for me. Usually I make things out of paper or form collages or draw cartoons, so this is a higher level of seriousness. I have a lot of completed pieces from the artist retreat I went to that I need to post photos of. In fact, it is time for a serious revamp of my entire web site... but that will have to wait... like this blog... like my house... like all things. Because the truth is, if I let my blog lag or my web site get old, or don't finish the ironing, I won't really feel bad about myself. But if I don't work on some of the things in the pile on my desk at work, I'll feel pretty damn bad. The funny thing is, I get much more personal pleasure from working on things at home, yet never make them a priority. I am driven by a sense of avoiding feeling bad, instead of seeking to feel good. Whoa, this is getting far too deep for a bright purple background with lime greeen headers.

Remember Eleanor
Eleanor Roosevelt authored some fantastic quotations, which would be good to remember from time to time. Some are particularly applicable right now, including: "Do what you feel in your heart to be right- for you'll be criticized anyway." and "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."
I guess you can infer that I'm being criticized and feeling inferior as a result- HA.
