Lord
of the Rings Desktop Amusement

Inspired
by the scene in Lord of the Rings where the ring falls into
the water to be lost and forgotten for thousands of
years. To
customize your desktop to match, check out the accompanying wallpaper.
All you have to do is download
unzip, and run it.
This
app we made using OpenGL. For plenty of cool OpenGL
programming tips, check out Nehe's
Tutorials. I've already sent Nehe an email thanking him for
his great tutorial page. Hopefully he'll check out what we did
at some point. |

Lord
of the Rings Theme
|
I made three desktop themes with
cursors, icons and sounds. If you use Microsoft Plus! you can download
this
and after opening the archive, select "install" and choose lake,
script or ring. (Ring is 640 X 480, the others are 1152 X 864.
They all use the Lothlorien screensaver from the official
site, but feel free to use our custom one above.) Extract the files and set up using the theme manager in the control panel (if you don't have one, I recommend Theme Architect). There is an extra sound- "chimes" that is good for mail delivery notification or to use if you don't like thunder. |

Unzip
into windows dir, or right click and select 'install'. A
preview of one of several modes is shown at left. You
can control the probability of it breaking into a
"Majestic" mode. The others are abstract. |
