I am  Lord of the Rings crazy.

I went with George, Rey and Gerry to see the first movie  three times and re-read all the books.  Then on opening night, I went to Twin Towers with Charles, George, and Marie.  I wonder how obvious it was to coworkers where I was going as I slipped out ever so early on December 18th 2002?  I even made the Gimli Guessing Game for a party I planned.

Now I might not be as crazy as the guy who put the entire text of the books and movies with photos from the films on his web site, but I AM going to Trilogy Tuesday.  That's where you watch the first two movies back to back (the extended versions, mind you) then see the first premiere of "Return of the King".  (Yes that means ten hours of Peter Jackson goodness.)  Oh that doesn't sound crazy enough to you?  Well, did I mention we're driving to FRESNO to do it?  That's right.  It sold out in a little over an hour at the Metreon and within hours at all other Bay Area venues.  New Line will not let them add more theaters as it is meant to be an exclusive engagement.  The only place in California I could get tickets was Fresno... mind you, I didn't check Bakersfield.  Guess this means a road trip!

Update: Now that nine of us (nice number for a fellowship, don't you think?) are traveling to Fresno, we're getting an RV so we can be all comfy and stuff.

I made three desktop themes a few years ago with cursors, icons and sounds.  If you use Microsoft Plus! you can download this zip* and after opening the archive, select "install" and choose lake, script or ring.  As you can see, the themes are all made with original art you can only find here.  (Ring is 640 X 480, the others are 1152 X 864 and they all use the Lothlorien screensaver from the official site.)  Extract the files and set up using the theme manager in the control panel (if you don't have one, I recommend Theme Architect).  There is an extra sound- "chimes" that is good for mail delivery notification or to use if you don't like thunder.  There is a ring animation thingee on the downloads page.

Toy Ring is Complete!  So once we had Saurman, we just needed the kneeling orc and Elrond, which we got off ebay from hookiechookie!  He was so nice, I had to compose this haiku:

Bonus orc with elf?
He's the greatest southerner
I ever did meet!

His feedback to me was a haiku in return:
This Feedback thing is so crazy it just might work!!! A+ eBayer!
